Portrait of an Artist : Marina

The following is a documentation Lauren’s Marina apartment, her studio space, and her artwork created since childhood. Originally from California, she exudes a warmth and grounded energy that is represented in her space. Lauren has lived in her San Francisco apartment for 3 years. With east-facing windows, the early morning light was filtering in beautifully the Sunday morning I photographed her space. Upon entering her space, my eyes first landed on the youthful, colorful artwork in her dining room that was gifted to her brother. An art history book was laid out on her chair, her grandmother’s Tiffany lamp rested on her table, and a mirror balanced on her chair, reflecting her carefully curated space. She created a makeshift studio table and has been recently getting back into painting, with the intention of doing more of what feeds her soul. I am grateful our paths crossed and that I had the opportunity to document her space and her artwork.
