Portrait of an Artist : Eric Zener

Nestled in Sausalito is a two-story art studio, belonging to artist Eric Zener. Eric has been a painter for over 30 years now. He’s self taught, having fully committed himself to a career as an artist from the age of 21, when he realized a 9-5 job did not suit the lifestyle he intended for himself.

Eric has been in his Sausalito studio for the past 15 years. The owner of the building is selling the space soon. I feel grateful I met him when I did to be able to document his studio, artwork and process. He invited me in with open arms and genuine excitement to answer my many questions about his path as an artist, his inspiration, his process, etc.
